Whistleblowers Say Violent Illegal Aliens Released
“Even though fifty-two illegal aliens were released onto its streets by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), officials in Pinal County told Front Page Magazine that ICE has still not shared any details about any individuals released. Furthermore, a whistle blower has told Pinal County officials that despite the Obama administration’s insistence that only nonviolent individuals were among those released, several individuals were in fact charged with crimes ranging from manslaughter, robbery and aggravated assault on a police officer,” Front Page Magazine says.
GOP Funding Amendment Demands Details on Criminal Release
“Senate Republicans introduced an amendment on Thursday that would require Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to turn over more details about the hundreds of illegal immigrants it released from detention centers last month. Sen. Chuck Grassley, the ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, introduced the amendment to the Senate’s continuing resolution bill moving through the upper chamber, garnering the support of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and Sens. James Inhofe (Okla.), David Vitter (La.), John Boozman (Ark.), Pat Roberts (Kan.) and Dan Coats (Ind.),” The Hill reports.
CPAC Debates Include Immigration
“Nobody was laughing at CPAC about the failure of Republicans to win Hispanic votes. Speakers at the conservative gathering said repeatedly that demographics will doom Republicans unless the party can find a way to appeal to Hispanic voters — and changing immigration policy is a necessary first step,” says USA Today. “At the CPAC panel — the first on the topic — all the speakers favored immigration changes and supported ways for illegal immigrants to achieve legal status, largely through temporary worker visas. “You can be conservative and be for immigration reform,” said Jennifer Korn of the American Action Network. A guest-worker program “helps our business, it helps our economy, and it is something big labor is against.”
Meanwhile, Donald Trump, speaking at CPAC, said amnesty was a suicide mission for the GOP.
“As Republican lawmakers attempt to determine a plan for immigration reform that jibes with both conservatives and members of the Latino community, Donald Trump, the real estate magnate and reality television host, has another message for the GOP: Immigration reform, he argues, basically amounts to a “suicide mission” for the party,” CBS News reports.
“Trump, speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Oxon Hill, Md., argued this morning that the ’11 million illegals, even if given the right to vote – you know you’re going to have to do what’s right – but the fact is 11 million people will be voting Democrat.'”
Boehner Meets With House Members on Amnesty Timing
“Republican members of a bipartisan group working on immigration legislation in the House are meeting Friday morning with House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) to discuss when the group should move ahead to introduce legislation, as the group nears agreement on a bill,” the Washington Post says.
“The meeting, confirmed by three congressional aides, comes a day after Democrats in the group briefed House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). Aides said the eight member group is close to an agreed upon bill–but is eager for input from Boehner. Boehner has been publicly supportive of the quiet negotiations but has long said action on the issue should begin in the Senate.”
