Is the Campaign for Amnesty the New Civil Rights Movement?

At the march on the Capitol this week to demand adoption of comprehensive immigration reform (aka amnesty) a prominent speaker was Benjamin Jealous, president and CEO of the NAACP. His presence demonstrates the expansion of the focus of his organization from fighting against discrimination against blacks to championing the campaign of illegal aliens for legal status.

It seems that Mr. Jealous is color blind in distinguishing between immigrants who legally join our society and those who are in effect gate crashers. And he seems to be oblivious of the research that demonstrates that those gate crashers harm the economic opportunities of America’s least educated and skilled workers, who are disproportionately minorities.
