The Tragedy and the Farce of the Gang of Eight Immigration Bill

Karl Marx once said, “History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.” Marx’s prediction is about to play itself out in Congress, where the Senate is expected to begin deliberations on the tragically farcical Gang of Eight immigration bill. In an op-ed I wrote for the Politix online opinion site, I point out a few of the tragically failed promises of the 1986 amnesty bill, and the farcically identical promises the Senate is asking the American public to believe in 2013.
