Local Government in Virginia Prefers Foreign Law Breakers

And here’s the latest example of Trump derangement syndrome exhibited by a local political entity: the Arlington, Virginia, County Board has announced that it will donate $100,000 in taxpayer money to the overtly partisan Legal Aid Justice Center. According to county officials, the grant was made to fund free legal assistance for illegal aliens facing deportation. The Legal Aid Justice Center describes itself as an “advocate for state and local policies that promote integration and reduce cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.”

This announcement comes shortly after the county raised property taxes – and increased housing, waste, and utility fees – citing the “extraordinary needs” of the Metro transit system and the Arlington County Public Schools. $100,000 is a relatively small sum compared to Arlington’s $1.25 billion 2018 budget. Yet one wonders how county legislators can ask law-abiding residents to pay higher taxes while they provide illegal aliens with free lawyers to fight deportation? The answer to that question seems pretty clear: Arlington is a sanctuary city.

It may resist the title, preferring to call itself a “welcoming community for immigrants” – whatever that means. But actions speak louder than words. In fact, Arlington seems to be competing with San Francisco to see who can come up with the best ways to waste taxpayer money while throwing tantrums about immigration enforcement:

  • In January of 2015, the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office announced that it would no longer honor hold-requests (known as “detainers”) issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
  • In 2016, the Arlington Public School Board allowed adult illegal aliens to attend public high schools.
  • Later in 2016, the Arlington County Board passed a resolution calling for the State of Virginia to begin issuing driver’s licenses to illegal aliens.

Right now it’s free lawyers for foreign law breakers. But what’s next? Judging by its past actions, it’s a safe bet that the Arlington County Board is just a short hop away from proposing illegal alien voting rights, just like their misguided colleagues in the College Park, Maryland City Council. Regardless of what foolish pro-illegal alien scheme it decides to pursue next, Arlington has sent a very clear message to its residents, “We value illegal aliens more than U.S. citizens!”

Similarly in Los Angeles, public funds are available for illegal aliens, they are exempt from laws that link them to ICE, restraining orders are not enforced by LAPD, etc. which puts the average taxpaying citizen in danger. LAPD Chief Beck claims collaboration with illegal alliens is necessary to solve crimes. In fact it is all being done for votes and endangering the taxpaying citizens of Los Angeles.

Actually all of the left prefers foreign lawbreakers. Hillary said her ” priority in her first 100 days” would be a path to citizenship for illegals. Talk about Russia. Every Democratic politician and some Republicans ought to be required to register as agents of a foreign government, namely Mexico. Name one thing that they do that Mexico doesn’t espouse. And all of it at the expense of Americans, whether it be wage depression, our school systems tied in knots trying to teach huge numbers of foreign students, and our welfare systems supporting large families of anchor babies, courtesy of the American taxpayer.

The Chicago Tribune is on some propaganda crusade trying to convince that city that millions of poor illegals are some economic plus. Never mind that all those people have gone hand in hand with Chicago falling off a financial cliff. They have taxed and taxed everything they can and it’s not enough.

It’s interesting that the Dreamers are saying that they won’t be used as a bargaining chip. First of all border security should not be subject to anything, but they should have no veto power should a deal be worked out. It’s up to us. Of course, the Democrats have already said no to any concessions. Not that you could ever trust them anyway when they always fail to keep their promises. It’s the old saying, fool me once shame on you, fool me 35 times, shame on me.

It’s like a significant portion of the left just hates this country. Last month was the annual left wing rewrite of history, saying poor innocent Japan was “ready to surrender” and Truman didn’t need to use the atomic bomb. Never mind that they were insisting on concessions even after the first bomb and that the emperor specifically said in his surrender speech that the reason for doing so was the Americans “had a cruel new weapon”. Take his word or Oliver Stone’s.

Illegal Alien advocates claim that the crimes Illegal Aliens commit are only civil. Thus, our government and our leaders are not obligated to provide funding for a legal fund. If they do so, then, again, they are providing services to Illegal Aliens that are not provided to our citizens. This money should be used where it is needed desperately by our Vets and homeless citizens.
