Biden Discovers That You Can’t Appease the Woke Mob

In a little more than a month in office, President Biden has taken a jackhammer to just about every immigration enforcement policy he inherited from his predecessor. He has, among other things, halted construction of the border wall; renounced agreements with Mexico and Central American countries to stem to the flow of migrants heading north; ended travel restrictions on people from countries known to harbor or sponsor terrorism; attempted to stop all deportations for 100 days (an order that has been put on ice by a federal judge); and sent a 353-page bill to Congress that would grant amnesty to every illegal alien in the country (and even some who are not in the country) and dramatically constrain future enforcement.

But is the “Woke” fringe of his coalition satisfied? Heck no!

FWD.us, the Silicon Valley funded mass immigration lobby, immediately took issue with the president’s bill for not being generous enough in offering amnesty to criminals. “[W]e hope Congress will improve upon efforts that currently exclude too many people who have been caught up in an overly punitive, discriminatory, and harsh criminal legal system,” complained the group’s press release.

After the president’s actions and statements predictably led to a new surge of migrants, the Biden administration added some detention facilities to temporarily hold a growing number of unaccompanied minors who are crossing the border. That move met with a sharp rebuke from The Squad. “This is not okay, never has been okay, never will be okay – no matter the administration or party,” tweeted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). “It’s only 2 mos into this admin & our fraught, unjust immigration system will not transform in that time. That’s why bold reimagination is so impt. DHS shouldn’t exist, agencies should be reorganized, ICE gotta go, ban for-profit detention, create climate refugee status & more,” she added in a follow-up tweet.

Joining the chorus of critics was fellow Squad member, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.). “Multiple administrations have made the callous choice to lock up thousands of children seeking refuge in the United States of America. As long as we see people seeking a better life as “aliens” instead of fellow human beings, our immigration system will continue to fail us,” she tweeted.

For the Woke, it seems, turning unaccompanied children loose in the frigid Texas winter is more humane than housing them temporarily until they can be placed with relatives or guardians in the interior of the country.

Meanwhile, as President Biden continues to thanklessly placate the Woke radicals, he is ignoring the rational voices within his own party. As Jason Pena noted in an earlier immigrationreform.com post, the Democratic mayor of the Texas border town of Del Rio is pleading with the president to stop the wholesale release of illegal aliens into his community and others.

Perhaps, as many before him have learned, President Biden will come to the realization that ideological radicals cannot be appeased, and that he might as well just do what is right rather than catering to the unreasonable demands of unreasonable people.
