Democratic lawmakers warned that <a href=\"http:\/\/live-immigrationreform.pantheonsite.io\/2012\/10\/17\/romney-obama-discuss-immigration-at-debate\/\">Romney\u2019s stance on immigration<\/a> makes him virtually unelectable in Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>Why they\u2019re so concerned about Mr. Romney\u2019s electability is not clear, but what really took the cake during the press conference was a comment made by State Rep. Cristana Duran (D-Denver):<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis issue is about making sure that every child whether documented or not has access to the American dream because that is what this country is built on. We are built on the idea that if you work hard and you play by the rules you will be able to have access to that American dream\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FAIR agrees that anyone who works hard and plays by the rules should have access to the American dream, but we fail to understand how someone who is \u201cundocumented\u201d has played by the rules.<\/p>\n<p>Colorado Democrats clearly care more for the rights of illegal aliens than for respecting our nation\u2019s immigration laws and national sovereignty, and while they may think that tough stances on immigration, such as Mr. Romney\u2019s, are unwinnable strategies, the American people seem to disagree with them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In response to GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney\u2019s pledge to veto the DREAM Act, members of the Colorado Democratic party held a news conference to condemn the former Massachusetts governor\u2019s position.
