Bright Future Jobs (BFJ)<\/a> released a report last week adding to the growing accumulation of evidence that refutes claims of a shortage of qualified STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) workers in the United States. FAIR tackled this topic in a comprehensive report<\/a> released last November, and recent academic research<\/a> has shown that STEM employers use foreign guest workers to drive down salaries and that skilled foreign workers do displace skilled native workers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The BFJ report details how many leading tech companies are tailoring ads specifically to discourage American applicants. In the United States today, companies are sending a not too subtle message that \u201cNo American Need Apply\u201d for many jobs in the STEM field.<\/p>\n

This is an outrage, but outrage can be put to good use. Currently, only Senators Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) have spoken out about the rampant abuses in the skilled guest workers programs. Voters must demand that the other 533 members of Congress explain why it is okay for companies operating in the United States to discriminate against American workers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
