The event was sponsored by the <a href=\"http:\/\/us.tusk.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tusk Trust<\/a>. The Tusk Trust protects African wildlife.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are going to have to work much harder, and think much deeper, if we are to ensure that human beings and the other species of animal with which we share this planet can continue to co-exist,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.sg\/prince-william-duke-of-cambridge-overpopulationruining-wildlife-tusk-trust2017-11\/\" target=\"_blank\">he said<\/a>. Prince William is courageously venturing into the oft-ignored issue of overpopulation.<\/p>\n<p>We should take our cues from Prince William\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/popclock\/\" target=\"_blank\">United States Census Bureau<\/a>, the current U.S. population totals over 326 million. Shockingly, unless immigration is reduced, the nation\u2019s population will climb to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/library\/working-papers\/2009\/demo\/us-pop-proj-2000-2050.html\" target=\"_blank\">nearly 400 million<\/a> by 2050. That\u2019s a 22 percent increase in just 33 years! America does not have enough available resources to sustain a population this size without further damaging the environment from growing development related pressures. Though rarely discussed, the reality is that we must curb future immigration in order to save our country\u2019s remaining wildlife for future generations.<\/p>\n<p>Which is one reason why the RAISE Act, now pending in the Senate, makes such good sense.<\/p>\n<p>Phasing down levels of legal immigration will help stabilize the U.S. population in time. The RAISE Act would <a href=\"https:\/\/fairus.org\/legislation\/federal-legislation\/s-1720-raise-act\" target=\"_blank\">reduce legal immigration by 50 percent<\/a>. Immigration would become manageable because the RAISE Act ends chain migration and restores our nation\u2019s ability to determine its demographic destiny.
