Oh No!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/psmag.com\/social-justice\/rights-groups-blast-7-eleven-over-its-reported-complicity-in-immigration-sweeps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Pacific Standard<\/em><\/a> \u2013 a California-based, social-justice-oriented online publication \u2013 recently posted an article titled \u201cRights Groups Blast 7-Eleven Over Its Reported Complicity in Immigration Sweeps.\u201d The piece accuses convenience store chain 7-Eleven of manipulating immigration law in order to serve its corporate interests.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, the chain\u2019s standard licensing agreement allows the corporation to revoke franchise agreements if the operators violate immigration laws. And the open borders lobby wants everyone to believe that 7-Eleven has chosen to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) solely because it wants to repossess profitable franchises.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em>Pacific Standard<\/em> and the alleged \u201crights\u201d groups that it cites, 7-Eleven is \u201cguilty of weaponizing the [Trump] administration&#8217;s anti-immigrant agenda to silence opponents of its corporate policy,\u201d and \u201cintimidate\u201d franchisees who oppose current immigration laws.<\/p>\n<p>Calling such claims <a href=\"http:\/\/live-immigrationreform.pantheonsite.io\/2018\/09\/12\/the-atlantics-distorted-perspective-on-immigration-enforcement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hyperbolic<\/a> is an understatement. If 7-Eleven were cooperating with the Department of Labor on wage and hour investigations, or with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration on workplace injury prevention programs, there would be no outcry. But the open borders lobby doesn\u2019t like immigration law, so they manufacture <a href=\"http:\/\/live-immigrationreform.pantheonsite.io\/2018\/11\/07\/the-absurd-migrant-caravan-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">false moral and legal arguments<\/a> for not complying with it.<\/p>\n<p>And <em>Pacific Standard<\/em> seems more than willing to act as the mouthpiece for the anti-borders contingent, running a story that is so one-sided as to be deliberately misleading. Here\u2019s an alternative view of the situation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Like every other corporation in the United States, 7-Eleven is obligated to comply with federal law. If it doesn\u2019t, the organization faces employer sanctions and its corporate principals could face criminal prosecution. So 7-Eleven\u2019s cooperation with ICE would more accurately (and more logically) be characterized as good corporate citizenship, rather than improper manipulation of the government to further some greed-fueled conspiracy.<\/li>\n<li>The organizations being cited shouldn\u2019t be referred to as \u201crights groups.\u201d Illegal aliens don\u2019t have any right whatsoever to accept employment in the United States. Any group claiming that enforcement of our immigration laws deprives illegal aliens of a right is simply condoning lawless behavior.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Most Americans don\u2019t find anything remotely <a href=\"http:\/\/live-immigrationreform.pantheonsite.io\/2017\/12\/01\/bakery-hires-illegal-aliens-fears-buns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">improper or immoral<\/a> about prosecuting illegal aliens for unlawfully accepting work in the United States. Nor do they see anything wrong with prosecuting employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens. But <em>Pacific Standard<\/em> isn\u2019t interested that side of the story. It simply doesn\u2019t fit the politically correct narrative that any enforcement action by ICE is a violation of illegal aliens\u2019 \u201crights\u201d and that any company that attempts to comply with immigration law is anti-immigrant.<\/p>\n<p>But what\u2019s most offensive about the relentless attacks on companies like <a href=\"http:\/\/live-immigrationreform.pantheonsite.io\/2018\/04\/02\/hey-aclu-stop-throwing-greyhound-under-the-bus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greyhound<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/live-immigrationreform.pantheonsite.io\/2018\/01\/05\/washington-state-persecuting-motel-6-cooperating-ice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Motel 6<\/a> and 7-Eleven is the blatant hypocrisy of both the open borders agitators and the mainstream media. Even as they accuse law-abiding companies of engaging in \u201cintimidation tactics,\u201d the critics of our immigration laws are mounting a libelous smear campaign intended to intimidate those companies into adopting their lawless open borders agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s hope 7-Eleven doesn\u2019t knuckle under the way that <a href=\"http:\/\/live-immigrationreform.pantheonsite.io\/2018\/11\/14\/motel-6-succumbs-to-open-borders-pressure-tactics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Motel 6<\/a> recently did.
