{"id":23712,"date":"2020-10-08T09:52:40","date_gmt":"2020-10-08T13:52:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.immigrationreform.com\/?p=23712"},"modified":"2020-10-08T09:52:42","modified_gmt":"2020-10-08T13:52:42","slug":"heroes-act-cbo-cost-to-americans-immigrationreform-com","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.immigrationreform.com\/2020\/10\/08\/heroes-act-cbo-cost-to-americans-immigrationreform-com\/","title":{"rendered":"How Much Will the House Dems&#8217; Illegal Alien Bill Cost Americans?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Republican lawmakers are asking the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to calculate how much the House Democrats\u2019 HEROES Act\u2014a special interest wish list hiding in an <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/10\/06\/nancy-pelosis-covid-relief-bill-is-mainly-just-a-left-wing-wish-list\/\" target=\"_blank\">economic stimulus bill<\/a> that also provides illegal aliens with jobs, stimulus checks, and other benefits\u2014will cost American taxpayers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senators Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.), and Mike Lee (R-Utah) recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tillis.senate.gov\/2020\/10\/tillis-asks-cbo-to-determine-how-much-money-nancy-pelosi-s-giveaway-to-illegal-immigrants-will-cost-american-taxpayers\">sent a letter <\/a> to the CBO asking for a review of the immigration provisions of the legislation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill originally intended to serve as a coronavirus economic and health relief package <a href=\"https:\/\/www.natlawreview.com\/article\/heroes-act-policy-overview-and-political-prospects-latest-covid-19-relief-bill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">for Americans<\/a>, but open borders lawmakers exploited the legislation in order to implement their radical immigration agendas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is\nunfortunate that instead of working to help the American people, Speaker Pelosi\nand her majority in the House of Representatives are taking this opportunity to\nadvance the economic well-being of illegal immigrants,\u201d the letter read. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The HEROES Act is a $2.2 trillion bill that grants numerous economic and job benefits to potentially some <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fairus.org\/issue\/illegal-immigration\/how-many-illegal-aliens-united-states\" target=\"_blank\">14 million<\/a> illegal aliens in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It does <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/house-bill\/6800\/text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">some<\/a> of the following: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Grants protections to employers who hire illegal aliens \u201cengaged in essential critical infrastructure labor or services in the United States.\u201d <\/li><li>Provides deportation protections and work authorization to illegal aliens who are \u201cengaged in essential critical infrastructure labor or services in the United States.\u201d <\/li><li>Awards a second round of stimulus checks\u2014including $1,200 per adult and $500 per dependent\u2014to those without a Social Security number. Only an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number is required. <\/li><li>Prohibits the Department of Justice from withholding federal funding from sanctuary cities\u2014cities that prohibit the cooperation of local and state law enforcement with federal immigration authorities. <\/li><li>Demands the release of almost all Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees, resulting in a near-cessation of immigration enforcement. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These radical provisions impose fiscal burdens on the American taxpayer and are likely to incentivize more illegal immigration. Additionally, it denies employment and funding opportunities from Americans who continue to suffer from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The bill also comes at a time where illegal immigration costs American taxpayers more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairus.org\/issue\/illegal-immigration\/how-many-illegal-aliens-united-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">$131<\/a> billion annually.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is unclear what exact costs these provisions will bring to American taxpayers, (hence the request by the Senators to calculate them) but what is clear is that the Democratic Party\u2019s immigration priorities are not serving the interests of hardworking and economically displaced Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican lawmakers are asking the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to calculate how much the House Democrats\u2019 HEROES Act\u2014a special interest wish list hiding in an economic stimulus bill that also provides illegal aliens with jobs, stimulus checks, and other benefits\u2014will cost American taxpayers.
