The crisis at the border is breaking bad records at an alarming rate. “So right now, we’re about a hundred percent over where we were this time, this last fiscal year. We’ve already surpassed in the first four months of this fiscal year. We’ve already surpassed all of 2018. If the flow continues at the rate it is here, by the end of this fiscal year, we will have surpassed ‘18, ’19, and ‘20, all combined,” said the interim chief of Border Patrol’s Tucson sector, Josh Modlin.

This administration took a dramatic turn away from the approach taken by its predecessor. Instead of an America first ideology, it is clear that President Joe Biden puts America last. And Americans are feeling the punches.

In the first five months of fiscal year 2021, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) encountered 322,940 migrants at the southern border. In January alone, CBP apprehended 64,858 single adults, a 156.6 percent increase from January 2020.

On average, CBP is encountering between 3,000 and 3,500 illegal aliens per day. In 2019, former Obama administration Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said that 1,000 illegally crossings overwhelms the system, and 4,000 apprehensions is truly a crisis. If this continues unabated, it won’t be long before we exceed those numbers.

Similarly, unaccompanied alien children at the southwest border increased by 64 percent compared to January of last year. As a result, Biden has opened additional “overflow facilities,” or cages as he called them back in 2019 (which they are not), as well as increased capacity to 100 percent in order to house these minors until their court proceedings.

Meanwhile, due to the reinstated catch and release policy, adult migrants are being released into the interior of the United States, often being dropped off at bus stations in border towns with no COVID testing or screening.

As border towns are flooded with released migrants and
taxpayers are stuck with the bill, it is clear that we are in a new era of
immigration policy, one marked by deliberate chaos and lawlessness.
