The Homeland Security Department (DHS) announced another gift to illegal aliens and the network of open borders activists they represent on May 22, i.e. 18 months of temporary protected status (TPS) for deportable Haitians. Experience with past decrees of TPS indicates that the 18-month protection will be extended unendingly by the Biden administration.

TPS protection for
Haitian illegal migrants is not new. This decree restored the protection the
deportable Haitians had before but had been terminated by the Trump
administration. The justification offered by DHS was that turmoil and poverty
in Haiti as well as the COVID pandemic made deportation inappropriate. Those
same conditions existed in Haiti when the TPS was found to be unjustified the
previous year.

Poverty and disease are new arguments for decreeing TPS. They are clearly fabricated justifications that will set a precedent for the Biden administration to offer protection against deportation for citizens of much of the world’s poor nations. Also highlighting the falseness of the stated justification for TPS is the fact that it applies to only Haitians already living illegally in the United States – not to any Haitians who come after the TPS designation. So the conditions in Haiti that supposedly justify non-deportation for Haitians already here do not justify non-deportation of newly arrived Haitian illegal arrivals. Of course the cut-off date is necessary to avoid an additional flood of Haitians seeking greater opportunity, but it also demonstrates the falseness of the TPS provision.
