Zuckerberg Plans New Ad Push for Amnesty

“The Mark Zuckerberg-funded issues advocacy group FWD.us is launching a new round of ads with a decidedly different tone than past spots on immigration reform, using quotes from President Barack Obama and House leadership to highlight a growing frustration with legislative delays,” Politico reports.

“The new push features a weeklong, national cable ad buy in the mid-six figures. There is an English-language spot and one in Spanish, and the ads will be on the Web for a longer period of time as part of an online ad buy.”

Amnesty Isn’t Going Away Despite Boehner Remarks

Jennifer Rubin says that despite Speaker Boehner’s remarks about immigration legislation last week, the House could continue to work on immigration bills including “legal status” for people here illegally. “I think it’s hard to get anything done this year simply because time is running out. However, one can imagine the following scenario over the next few months: The House passes bills corresponding to the issues Goodlatte’s put forth. On legalization, the House comes up with full-citizenship for a distinct class of DREAM Act immigrants brought here as children. For the rest, the House would require that applicants for citizenship to go through the exact same steps as regular green card holders (e.g. time, residency). Rather than a conference, there is an opportunity for some informal negotiations, horse-trading and the usual blustering from both sides. In the end it really doesn’t matter if the three components are in one bill or three, so long as they all pass.”

Legal Immigrants Facing Deportation Write Letter Opposing Amnesty

“Among the letters that members of Congress have received urging they take one position or another on immigration, was one signed by 13 men at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma. The signers of the three-page missive, all legal permanent residents in the U.S., are making a plea, not about conditions at the 1,579-bed facility or about some violation of human or civil rights there,” the Seattle Times says.

“Rather, they are asking lawmakers not to grant a legal path to citizenship for those in the country unlawfully.”

Roger Daltrey of The Who Says Open Borders Are a Mistake

“The Who frontman Roger Daltrey has slammed the British Labor Party for its lax immigration policy which he says ‘destroyed the jobs of my mates,” The Blaze writes.

“‘I will never, ever forgive the Labor Party for allowing this mass immigration with no demands put on what people should be paid when they come to this country. I will never forgive them for destroying the jobs of my mates, because they allowed their jobs to be undercut with stupid thinking on Europe, letting them all in, so they can live 10 to a room, working for Polish wages,’ Daltrey told the Sunday Times.”

Open-Borders Agenda Behind Senate Immigration Bill

“The immigration issue continues to churn as the U.S. Congress lurches toward the end of 2013. Advocates for blanket amnesty are clamoring for action; supporters of the U.S. House’s piecemeal approach to immigration reform are urging caution. The issue comes down to one of two choices: open borders or U.S. sovereignty,” says Bob Casimiro of Mainers for Sensible Immigration Policy.

“Having read and understood the U.S. Senate bill, S. 744, and four House bills passed out of its Judiciary Committee, it is clear that the Senate bill will make open borders advocates happy, and those concerned about U. S. sovereignty will be encouraged by the many solid features of the House bills. The House and Senate bills, though, are incompatible.”

Another Executive Decree from Obama

“The Obama administration will allow some relatives of U.S. service members living in the country illegally to stay, according to a policy directive issued Friday. The nine-page memorandum is the latest in a series of immigration policy changes made by President Barack Obama since he took office. The department has long had the power to stop deportations for relatives of military members and veterans, but Friday’s memo lays out how and when it can be used,” the Washington Post writes.
