Senate Democrats Consider Vote on Tax Credit for Illegal Aliens

“Senate Democrats have begun whipping an amendment from Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., to the stalled jobless benefits bill, hoping to use it as a political hammer against GOP senators who are looking to the measure to cater to their conservative bases,” RollCall.com reports.

“Sources confirmed that Senate Majority Whip Richard J. Durbin’s vote-counting operation over the weekend started gauging whether Democrats could stand firm against the proposal that would eliminate tax credits for the children of undocumented immigrants, millions of whom are American citizens. Similar legislation previously had been championed by Sens. David Vitter, R-La., and Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., who lacked support for the initiative and failed in multiple attempts to bring it to the floor.”

GOP Strategy Session This Month Will Push Amnesty

“The GOP’s leadership will try to persuade GOP legislators to back an immigration plan that includes tighter enforcement, an effective amnesty for 12 million people and more immigrant workers, according to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte,” the Daily Caller writes.

“GOP legislators will likely be pressed to support the series of immigration bills at a closed-door strategy session in West Virginia, starting Jan. 23.”

CA Sheriff Will Continue to Hold Criminals for ICE

“Under the new state law known as the Trust Act, which went into effect Jan. 1, undocumented immigrants arrested for minor misdemeanor offenses are no longer subjected to being placed on a 48-hour immigration hold at the request of Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” Bakersfieldnow.com says.

“Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood, however, said he would continue to cooperate with ICE. ‘If ICE says, ‘We really want this person held,’ we’re going to hold them,’ said Youngblood. ‘Because we don’t know why that person is being held.'”

Jim Cramer – Take Care of American Workers First

“The United States needs to focus on getting jobs for U.S. citizens instead of hiring immigrants and making deals with other nations for cheap labor, says Jim Cramer, host of CNBC’s ‘Mad Money,'” Newsmax reports.

“‘Can we just help people get jobs who live here? We have so many problems in our country,’ Cramer told ‘The Steve Malzberg Show’ on Newsmax TV.”

“To me, this is so basic. We obviously should be taking care of our own. We’re Americans. Like, why can’t we take care of Americans? And how did that get to be bad?”
