While these young crossers face perilous conditions in transit and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/Breitbart-Texas\/2014\/06\/02\/Base-Housing-1000-Illegal-Aliens-Allegedly-Ridden-with-Illness\">uncertain futures<\/a> once they arrive, the fact is that the crisis has been the direct consequence of lax enforcement and a welcoming environment for illegal aliens manufactured by the Obama administration.<\/p>\n<p>The surge is <a href=\"https:\/\/news.azpm.org\/p\/news-fp-featured\/2014\/6\/2\/36634-central-american-youth-overwhelm-immigration-system\/\">straining Border Patrol resources<\/a> to the breaking point. What\u2019s worse, the administration\u2019s response to the crisis &#8212; transporting illegal border crossers to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2014\/05\/31\/officials-under-fire-for-dumping-illegal-immigrants-in-us\/\">other locations<\/a> where they are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scpr.org\/blogs\/multiamerican\/2014\/06\/05\/16781\/in-immigration-news-immigrant-driver-s-licenses-em\/\">processed and then released <\/a>&#8212; is exacerbating the situation.<\/p>\n<p>The surge, and the collapse of immigration enforcement nationwide, has been brought about by the Obama Administration\u2019s six-year <a href=\"http:\/\/live-immigrationreform.pantheonsite.io\/2014\/04\/29\/what-the-dhs-secretary-and-the-obama-administration-just-dont-understand-about-immigration-enforcement\/\">scaling back<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairus.org\/legislative-updates\/legislative-update-4-2-2014#2\">enforcement<\/a> \u2013 changes that have incentivized millions thinking of coming to America illegally:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Immigration laws are now only enforced against <a href=\"http:\/\/live-immigrationreform.pantheonsite.io\/2014\/05\/16\/migration-policy-institutes-deportation-policy-ax-murderers-only\/\">violent criminals<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Administrative amnesties granting quasi-legal status and work authorization to entire classes of illegal aliens have, and continue to occur.<\/li>\n<li>The Secretary of Homeland Security is reviewing <a href=\"http:\/\/live-immigrationreform.pantheonsite.io\/2014\/04\/23\/beyond-the-spin-obama-is-not-the-deporter-in-chief\/\">deportation practices<\/a> with an eye toward identifying additional categories of illegal aliens who will be exempted from immigration enforcement.<\/li>\n<li>The U.S. has <a href=\"http:\/\/live-immigrationreform.pantheonsite.io\/2014\/05\/22\/obamas-immigration-storm-damage-done-restoration-work-must-start\/\">limited the detention and removal<\/a> of illegal unaccompanied minors crossing the border and women attempting to enter with children.<\/li>\n<li>Illegal aliens are <a href=\"http:\/\/live-immigrationreform.pantheonsite.io\/2014\/04\/28\/administration-considers-increasing-illegal-alien-scofflaw-problem\/\">being released on their own recognizance<\/a> or minimal bond with the tacit assurance that as long as they do not commit a serious crime, no one will come looking for them.<\/li>\n<li>Obama has issued an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairus.org\/legislative-updates\/legislative-update-4-2-2014#1\">ultimatum to Congress<\/a> that they either enact amnesty legislation by the end of the summer, or he will implement one without congressional authority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a consequence, illegal aliens, anxious to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/06\/04\/world\/americas\/wave-of-minors-on-their-own-rush-to-cross-southwest-border.html?hp&amp;_r=0\">capitalize on the administration\u2019s offer of a free pass into the U.S.<\/a> place their lives and their children\u2019s lives in the hands of ruthless smugglers. As we head into the summer months, more than 60,000 illegal aliens, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2014\/06\/04\/food-water-smiles-greet-migrants-shipped-ariz\/9945305\/\">young children<\/a>, are expected to make their way across a harsh and unforgiving desert to reach the U.S. border. Some, unfortunately, die along the way.
