Loss of Human Life is Always Tragic, But Preventable Losses of Life are Also Infuriating

All loss of human life is tragic, but when those lives are lost due to circumstances that were preventable, it’s not only heartbreaking but infuriating. Thus is the case that horrified the nation earlier this week when illegal immigrants, packed like sardines into a SUV, died just north of the U.S.-Mexico border in a horrendous collision. As the details of what happened came out, we discovered that this actually could have been much, much worse.

Apparently, not one, but two SUVs illegally entered the U.S. in a hole cut in border fencing near El Centro, California. The first SUV, carrying 19 people, sped up the highway and suddenly burst into flames. Thankfully, everyone escaped.  The second SUV, carrying an astonishing 25 people, collided with a tractor trailer, killing 13 people.

These attempts to enter the U.S. illegally are not taking place in a vacuum.  Illegal alien apprehensions along the southwest border are skyrocketing, with apprehensions in January 2021 nearly doubling those of January 2020.  The number of unaccompanied minors, children who enter the U.S. illegally without their parents, is expected to surpass 13,000 in May alone. Astonishingly, while the White House continues to claim that the border isn’t in crisis,, more than 100 illegal aliens who tested positive for COVID-19 were loaded onto buses and dispersed throughout the nation.

What has triggered this illegal surge into the U.S., and has coaxed so many people to suddenly put their lives in danger to enter the U.S. can be summed up in two words: President Biden.

Since taking office, the Biden administration has not only taken a wrecking ball to nearly every tool put in place to control the borders during the current economic and health crisis the nation is enduring, it has actually incentivized illegal immigration.

In addition to halting wall construction, the administration has suspended the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), called to end ties with private illegal alien detention facilities, and eliminated asylum abuse agreements with our regional partners.

But that’s not the worst of it. Last week, the nation’s top immigration enforcement official, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, told the world’s would-be illegal aliens that “we’re not saying don’t come, we’re saying don’t come now.” And then as if lathering icing on the cake, House and Senate Democrats, with the blessing of the White House, concurrently introduced the largest amnesty bill in the nation’s history, a legalization that would dwarf the 1986 amnesty by a factor of four, offering a pathway to citizenship for some 14.5 million illegal aliens, some of whom arrived as recently as January 1, 2021.

The Biden administration first tore down this nation’s ability to deter illegal entries and maintain secure borders and then rhetorically and legislatively waved the green flag to start the mad dash north.

The deaths at the border and the human carnage that will result from these reckless policies are owned, lock, stock and barrel, by the Biden administration.  Yes, with the deadly crash earlier this week, President Biden now has blood on his hands.
